…Although, ultimately, the North had won, businessmen colloquially known as "carpetbaggers" quickly swooped in on the devastated south to buy up businesses and choice land at criminally low prices, as well as stealing eggs. This ushered a lasting era of poverty for the dinosaurs, as even the most prominent among their number, such as the mighty Tyrannosaurus Rex had, by the close of the war, lost most of their material wealth or had their assets seized. The even less fortunate behemoths found themselves forced into sharecropping under unregulated contractual conditions that were written to ensure the continued poverty of the once majestic lizards. Although the country was again united in name, dinosaurs would continue to look at "Yankees" and blacks contemptuously for ages to come, culminating in the civil rights movement of the 20th century…
