Americans have the freedom to own and bear arms and organize militias to protect ourselves from the possibility of a runaway government. It isn’t so we can be better equipped to “hunt quail” nor is it to offer protection against other citizens (although it DOES).
The experiment in terror that has been exercised on us for several decades now is designed to make us desire to give up those freedoms. The news has been exaggerating all reports of violent crime to the point where we feel as if the USA is more violent than it has ever been. It isn’t! Its safer than it has EVER been! Our television programs are designed to make us believe that the world should be a fairytale land where violence doesn’t exist. The desired result of these two seemingly conflicting inputs is to make us fearful of the world. The more fearful we are, the more we depend on outside organizations that make their bread and butter by providing us the illusion of safety. Of coarse the catch is that there is no turning back. And if we are unwilling to trust ourselves to freedom than we deserve to have it taken away from us. But we will lose many freedoms and in close succession when there is no possibility we will stand up.
I say, lets keep this democratic. If you don’t want your right to keep and bear arms, then give it up. The rest of us will keep our guns, and you won’t have any. If that proposition makes you nervous, I can scarcely see how you would feel more assurance in a country where none of the citizens have fire-arms and the government has all.
Very little can stop the progress train. If it must crush citizens to turn a profit, it will. It will only stop for armed citizens.
