It’s called “the military-industrial complex” and there is more legislation being cranked out daily in the interests of only a few large corporations, than for the good of our citizens. There is a war being fought against the middle class and it is a psychological war. Every day we are told to relinquish more and more of the liberties our grandfathers’ grandfathers fought and killed and died for. There are atrocities being committed all over the globe, people being repressed, children laboring, crops giving sterile seeds, people being cut off from their drinking water, democracies toppled; And all in the name of the American people, and all “justified” by soulless efficiency experts cracking numbers and squeezing a few pennies out of human suffering. We are guilty through indifference. We see what we want to see, we hear what we want to hear. We joke about how we’ll never change it. While politicians are are signing away our future, all we can talk about is who’s gay in Hollywood, and “are the Steelers going to win this year”.
